ANNA MORTON Vocalist • Songwriter • Vocal Coach

Anna Morton is a vocalist, songwriter, and vocal coach with over 20 years of singing and songwriting experience. She studied Classical Voice and Vocal Jazz at the University of North Texas and Worship and Theology at Liberty University, and has collaborated with award-winning worship songwriters in the modern hymn tradition. Her performance experience includes appearances at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage and serving as a National Anthem vocalist for Department of Defense engagements supporting senior leadership. Anna has organized and led worship at conferences and church gatherings and participated in national worship conferences alongside leading worship ministries. She teaches private voice lessons through Morton Music Group and performs Scripture-based music with Morton Scripture Songs.

MARLENA BRINKLEY

Soprano Marlena Brinkley recently made her European debut in Vicenza, Italy, where she captivated audiences as the diabolical Queen of the Night in a production of Mozart's opera Die Zauberflöte, garnering much acclaim for her outstanding portrayal of the evil Queen. Marlena is renowned for possessing a “grand, sumptuous voice with shimmer
reminiscent of Beverly Sills” and “vocal power of legendary dramatic coloratura sopranos such as Christina Deutekom and Edita Gruberova”.

With a remarkable vocal range and an alluring beauty that enchants listeners, Marlena has received much acclaim for her portrayal of Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Leonora in Verdi’s Il Trovatore and Donizetti’s tragic heroine, Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, showcasing her mastery of coloratura in the bel canto repertoire.

Equally gracing the concert stage, Ms. Brinkley has upcoming performances are currently in preparation for Verdi’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and Rossini’s Stabat Mater.

While attending the University of South Carolina for her undergraduate studies, she garnered much recognition and awards in numerous prestigious competitions, including the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions for the state of South Carolina and representing her state further in the regional event.

As a native to Aiken, SC, Marlena takes great pleasure in performing for her local community whenever possible, fostering a love for opera and inspiring future generations of artists.

DR. TIM BOSTWICK is an internationally celebrated baritone, whose voice is described as “affecting”and “impressive and impactful.” Moreover, as a sought after comedic singer, he is “pure comicjoy” onstage. In the last year, his roles included: Charlie in The Day the Dogs Began to Talk,Falstaff in Falstaff, Pa in Proving Up, Roy in Staggerwing, and Sir Joseph Porter in HMSPinafore. Additionally, he performed the baritone solos in Finzi’s In Terra Pax and Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms. Bostwick’s previous roles include: Gianni Schicchi in Gianni Schicchi,Germont in La Traviata, the Father in Hänsel und Gretel, Figaro in Il Barbiere di Siviglia,Escamillo in Carmen, Chucho in Lucrezia (Bolcom), Alfio in Cavalleria Rusticana, Schaunardin La Bohème, Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro, and Top in Tender Land. This season Dr. Bostwick will appear in Opera Carolina’s The Medium, Bethel College’s The Creation (Haydn), and Hometown Opera’s production of The Miller’s Daughter. As an avid academic, Bostwick holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Performance and Literature with a cognate in Musicology degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Hisdissertation, Feminism and Historiography: Toward a (Re)Visioning of Jenny Lind, explores thefamed singer as an example of feminism who transcended societal norms in Victorian England.He has presented this topic at Central NATS, the Midwest Graduate Music Consortium, and theNorth American British Music Studies Association. He received the Kate Neal Kinley Fellowship, the Linda Shaver-Gleason Award, and the Nicholas Temperley Research Scholarshipfor this work. Dr. Bostwick is also the creator of “This Will Be Our Response: Voices ofCOVID-19” with the National Association of Teachers of Singing. This series of interviews collected personal experiences throughout the vocal performing arts during the pandemic.
